What Is Downtown Austin During a Pandemic Without People?

“You have those moments in life when you’ll never forget where you were,” says Mike Stitt, the CEO of Austin bakery mini-chain Easy Tiger. He recalls how he learned about the announcement while standing at the bakery’s original downtown location. Just a few months later, the company closed that same sprawling East Sixth Street bakery and beer garden — the one that helped 

launch the business in 2012. It’s perhaps the highest-profile closure downtown since the pandemic started, but far from the only one.
